She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Lee Byrd, Jr. and Edna Jane; her husband James Lassiter Sr.; her son James Lassiter Jr.; and her siblings, Dorothy Byrd Rivers, Elsie Mae Byrd, Louise Byrd Blue, Willie E. Byrd and Charlie Byrd Sr..
She is survived by: her children, Connie L. Evans (Kenny) of Wendell, NC and David A. Lassiter (Tonya) of Cary, NC; her siblings, Lorraine Byrd Williams of Raleigh, NC, Leevander Byrd Sr. of Apex, NC, Johnny Byrd (Sheryline) of Raleigh, NC and James Michael Byrd of Goldsboro, NC; her uncle William Barnes of Dunn, NC; and her brother-in-law Joe Baker of Goldsboro, NC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews.
