He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazel Perry Minton and Marvin Ellis Minton of Kitty Hawk; his daughter Laura Minton Davies; and his siblings, Cassandra Minton Nixon and Marvin Ellis Minton, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Kimberly P. Minton; his sons, Michael Derek Minton of Kitty Hawk and Jason A. Minton of Corolla; and his brother Charles E. Minton (D'Andrea) of Manteo. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous cousins.
