He is survived by: his wife Lila McGeachy; his child English Ray Rand (David McMurray Rand); his granddaughters, Elizabeth Hamilton Rand, Anne Lanier Britt Rand and Catherine English Rand; his son Roderick Archibald Ray (Merritt Martin Ray); his grandsons, Samuel Cole Ray and Richard Ashe Ray; his daughter Alison Britt Ray Bishop (Whitner Sheild Bishop); and his grandchildren, Eliza Sheild Bishop, Henry McGeachy Bishop and Martha English Bishop.

Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Heritage Center in Montreat, North Carolina or King University in Bristol, Tennessee.
