He was predeceased by: his father Frank Nix. He is survived by: his siblings, Lena Ward of Granite Falls, Todd Nix of Granite Falls and Darrell Bentley (Lucy) of Morganton. He is also survived by two nieces; two nephews; ten great nieces and nephews and four great-great nephews.
