With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shirley Mae Sanders Hartley of Hudson, North Carolina, who passed away on December 23, 2021 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, George M. Sanders and Georgia L. Caldwell Sanders; her husband Thomas E. Hartley; her son Rodney Allen Hartley; and her brother Allen R. Sanders.

She is survived by: her daughter Alicia H. Greene (Philip) of Granite Falls; her grandchildren, Ethan C. Greene of Granite Falls and Hannah S. Greene of Granite Falls; her brothers, George R. Sanders of Morganton, Roy A. Sanders (Anne) of Morganton, Fred R. Sanders of Marion and James H. Sanders (Donna) of South Carolina; and her siblings-in-law, Mary Sanders of Fallston, Debbie Sanders of Sanford and Earl Hartley. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations made in memoriam for Mrs. Hartley to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Avenue, N.W., Lenoir, NC 28645.

She and I would right letters and get to talk on the phone. She always talked about her grandchrildren and how much she liked spending time with them.
