He was predeceased by: his father Bruner Grady Herold; his son Norman "Dwayne" Herold; and his sisters, Judy Greene and Teresa Gardner. He is survived by: his wife Anita White Herold; his daughter Cheryl Barrow of Lenoir; his stepdaughter Stephanie Coffey (Nathan) of Lenoir; his siblings, Keith Herold (Deborah) of Lenoir, Gloria Kriss (Michael) of Hickory and Patricia Curtis (John) of Bethlehem; and his granddaughter Sara Coffey.
