It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bessie Puett Rainey of Hudson, North Carolina, who passed away on January 31, 2021, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Pope and Lula Collins Pope; her former husband William Lee Puett; and her husband William "Bill" Lee Rainey. She is survived by: her pet Hamilton; her children, Barry L. Puett of Hudson, Bruce L. Puett of Hudson, Barbara L. Day (Dewey) of Lenoir and Bonnie L. Smith (Brian) of Lenoir; her siblings, Lonnie Pope (Reba) of Lenoir, Bradley Pope (Marcy) of South Dakota and Rachel Earley of Valdese; her grandchildren, Chris Day, Chelsea Johnson and Barry Puett, Jr.; and her great grandchild Marleigh Day. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
