He was predeceased by: his parents, John Phillip Laney and Mamie Lucille Hartley Laney; his brothers, Terry Laney and John Wayne Laney; and his children, Sherry Miller and Benny Clayton McGee of Hudson.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Cooke Laney of Hudson; his daughter Marsha Sipes of Hudson; his sister Vivian Jane Bare of Lenoir; his grandsons, Todd Poarch (Shasta) and Bryan Poarch (Christina); and his niece Brenda Webb.
