He was predeceased by: his parents, Garland Simmons and Donnie Era Harrison Simmons; and his siblings, Harris Wayne Simmons, Douglas Simmons and Mabel Perdue.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Lee Keener Simmons of Highlands; and his brother Roger Simmons of The Colony, TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
