He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Shirley Hampton Southard and Bernice Carrigan Southard; his siblings, Patricia Southard, Mary Lou Scott and Richard Southard; his foster father Tommy Johnson; his wife Diane Spencer Southard; his daughters, Darlene Dennis (Daniel), Nancy Craig (Justin) of Stony Point and Linda Childers (Levi Esh) of West Iredell; his foster mother Peggy Johnson; his goddaughter Kristie Johnson Turner; his grandchildren, Ashlund, Tucker, Maddie Dennis, Jesse Wessollek, Elizabeth Childers, Luke, Sadie Gilreath, Ava and Adaline Esh; his brothers, Tommy Southard (Karen), Marty Johnson (Denise) and Roger Johnson (Lisa); and his sister-in-law Tammy Spencer. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
