He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer H. Bertke and Elizabeth L. "Betty" Bertke (Steinbrunner); his brother-in-law David Samek; and also Susan Guthridge. He is survived by: his wife Jane; his son Eric; his daughter-in-law Melissa Bertke; his granddaughter Kennedy Bertke of Spring Hill; his sister Mary Evelyn Sudhoff of Celina; his brother-in-law Bob Guthridge of Cocoa Beach; and also Ann Samek of Mobile. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Contributions in John's memory may be made to any animal rescue group, or the Humane Society.
