With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Leslie Ray Carter of Hayesville, North Carolina, who passed away on August 8, 2023 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ben Avon and Gladys Inez Pyatte Ray; her husband William Eugene Carter, Sr.; and her sister Ella Bates Cody. She is survived by: her children, Janice Carter Harwood (Paul) and William E. "Bill" Carter, Jr. of Hayesville; her siblings, Julia Morgan of Candler and Jason Ray of Jacksonville, Florida; her grandchildren, Scott Harwood (Jayne), Dalton Carter (Amanda) and Claudia Carter; and her great grandchild Ava Carter.
In lieu of flowers, Leslie requested memorials in memory of Leslie Ray Carter be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund, 50 Marvin Cabe Lane, Hayesville, North Carolina 28904 or to the Moss Memorial Library, 26 Anderson Street, Hayesville, North Carolina 28904.
