He is survived by: his wife Amanda Shannon Hovis; his children, Michael Eugene Hovis (Cheryl), Angela Denise Hovis, Nancy Jane Arthur (Ronald) and John Mason Hovis; his siblings, Johnnie Marion Hovis, Mary Leona Griggs and Alice Jane Lockridge; his grandchildren, Tracy Laree Cates (Michael) and Kayla Maree Hovis; and his great grandchildren, Alyak Noah, Carson and Zane Cates.
