He was predeceased by: his wife Nannie Raye Poole; his daughter Beverly Johnson; his parents, Thomas Poole and Mary Poole; and his siblings, Mary McLean, Dorothy Barrow, Tom Poole, Jr., Bob Poole and Bill Poole.
He is survived by: his son-in-law Doug Johnson of Harkers Island; his sister Patricia Shriver of Maryland; his grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson of Beaufort and Dean Johnson of Harkers Island; and his great grandchildren, Chaeli Smith and Courtney Smith.
