He is survived by: his children, Cindy Jo E. Lomax (Johnny) of Cornelius, NC, Jan E. Yelverton (Maurice) of Grimesland, NC and William E. "Bill" Ellington, IV (Iris) of Washington, NC; his grandchildren, Denny Watson, Nicky Yelverton, Christa Bass, Bridget Phillips, Emily E. Guyer, Will Ellington, Christian Ellington, Wyatt Yelverton and Michelle Yelverton; and his great grandchildren, Kallie Spanburg, Kamryn Spanburg, Caden Bass, Carter Bass, Tucker Watson, Maddox Watson, Nickolas Yelverton, Amelia Guyer, John Guyer, Caroline Guyer, Graham Guyer, Devin Phillips, Chrislyn Phillips and Wren Yelverton. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
