He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Saunders Ayers and Georgie Belle Roebuck Ayers; and his siblings, Billy Saunders Ayers and Annabelle Ayers Haslip. He is survived by: his wife Mary Farmer Ayers; his children, Georgia Ayers Nicholson Wilkes of Mocksville and Ray Ayers of Bear Grass; his grandson Jonathan Leslie Nicholson; and his sister Rita Ayers Cannon of Oak City. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many other extended family.
