He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Leon and Edna Ross Whaley; and his siblings, Lt. Colonel David Whaley and Sandra Ward. He is survived by: his wife Mary "Kaye" Buffaloe Whaley of Garner; his son Rodney Whaley (Cheryl Whaley) of Raleigh; his granddaughters, Celeste and Morgan Whaley of Raleigh; his son William "Bill" Whaley (Christy Hobbs) of Benson; his sister Betsy Ross Whaley of Greensboro; his sister-in-law Diane Whaley of Pulaski, NY; and his close friends, Lois Gainey and Dawn Gainey Wicker of Garner. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
