He was predeceased by: his parents, Fate Butler and Sadie Ruth Smith Butler; his wife Betty Whitaker Butler; and his siblings, Anne Butler, Max, Joe, Bobby and Jacob Butler.
He is survived by: his daughter Donna Lynn Butler Brantley (Alan) of Forest City; and his brother Steve Butler (Wanda) of Mooresboro. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
