He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ira Ward, Sr. and Etta Truitt Ward; and his sister Rachel Ward Stanley. He is survived by: his wife Hazel Jones Ward; his children, John Ira Ward, III (Mary Ann) of Efland, Peggy Majors of Graham, Donna Francis (David) of Cary and Sandra Hannon (John) of Raleigh; and his grandchildren, Vance Benjamin Ward, David Ward Francis, Rev. Sarah Jane Majors, Heather Elizabeth Ward, Mary Roberts Francis and Matthew Eric Hannon. He is also survived by 2 Great Grandchildren.
Due to Covid 19 protocols, those attending the visitation or service are asked to wear masks and practice distancing.
