She was predeceased by: her husband Hubert M. Carter; and her parents, Murdock S. Shanklin and Lula Miles Shanklin. She is survived by: her son Don Edward Carter (Sharon) of Brooksville, FL; her brother David M. Shanklin of Mebane; her stepchildren, Oliver Westbrook (Debbie) of Raleigh, Lynn Westbrook (Steve Chason) of Raleigh and Sandy W. Davis (Joe) of Burlington; and her stepsiblings, Richard Westbrook of Mebane, Peggy Scott of Mebane and Kathy W. Poteat of Mebane. She is also survived by 4 step-grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren.
