He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Lindsey Phillips and Nellie Hawley Phillips of Durham, NC.. He is survived by: his siblings-in-law, Janice Phillips and James Kennedy; his wife Etsuko Phillips; his siblings, Richard Phillips, James Phillips and Elizabeth Kennedy; and his sister-in-law Joan Phillips. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
