He is survived by: his wife Patricia Helms; his children, Kenneth Helms, Mike VanHorn (Becky), Leslie Dover (Brooks) and Tonya Buff (Danny); his grandchildren, Kristin, Kyia VanHorn, Brooks Dover, Jr., Daniel Buff, Corey Buff and Micah Buff (Amanda); his great grandchildren, Allison and Malakai Buff; his sister Effie Hester (Jack); his niece Jackie Welch; and his nephew Tom Hester.
