He was predeceased by: his parents, Roger Savig and Peggy Savig (Molacek); his wife Diane Neale; his siblings, Dan, Charlie and Mary; and his brother-in-law Mike Zupfer.

He is survived by: his former spouse Sandy Knapper; his children, Angela Dahl (Josh), Joe Savig (Sadie), Robert Savig (Liz), Susy Laursen (Tony) and Amanda Pilkington (Mike); his grandchildren, Renee, Archer, Vanessa, Hannah, Jacob, Kayden, Samuel, Gracie and Madison; his siblings, Patricia Mertesdor, Peggy Zupfer, Kim Savig of Maynard, MN, Dave Savig (Wanda) of Fridley, MN, Chris Savig of Mankato, MN, Andy Savig (Kari) of Savage, MN and Matt Savig (Michelle) of Willmar, MN; and his close friends, Anita Gay McKinney, Rich and Molly Kisby. He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews.
