He was predeceased by: his father Bill Gholson; his brothers, Doug Gholson and Steve Gholson; and his grandparents, William Stillwell, Ruby Stillwell, Bill Gholson and Ruby Gholson.

He is survived by: his nephew Cole; his friends, Ben, Jeanette and Alice Bryant; his fiancée Joy Mashburn; his children, Kent Gholson, Krista Hunt (Cody), Marisa Mashburn (Jess) and Miranda Rakes (Josh); his grandson Bryson Rakes; his brothers, Keith Gholson and Bruce Gholson (Amy); his sister-in-law Ann Gholson; and also, Patty and Gloria Gholson.
