He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Berman Carpenter and Freeda Pauline Sigmon Carpenter; his brother Charles B. Carpenter; and his parents-in-law, Everette A. Huffman and Muriel H. Huffman.
He is survived by: his wife Jan Huffman Carpenter; his children, David E. Tucker (Lisa) of Claremont and Nikki Aiken (Mark) of Claremont; his siblings, Gary W. Carpenter (Susan) of Claremont, Sandra C. Tallant (Richard) of Claremont and Patricia C. Miller (Michael) of Claremont; his sister-in-law Pat H. Carson of Jefferson, NC; and his grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Shirley Aiken, Guy Aiken, Christopher Aiken, Davis Tucker, Mallerie Aiken and Holden Tucker. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
