He is survived by: his wife LaVonne H. Powell of Shelby; his daughter-in-law Tammy Powell; his grandchildren, Nathan Powell and Hannah Powell; his great grandchildren, Isabella and Autumn Powell; and his sisters, Patricia Powell McSwain of South Carolina and Peggy Lackey of Cary.
