He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Nadine Davis Wheaton and Walter L. Wheaton, Jr.; his wife Rachel H. Wheaton; his children, Dr. Carla W. Brady (Chris) of Chapel Hill, NC and Dr. Lewis A. Wheaton (Teri) of Smyrna, GA; and his grandchildren, Lewis A. Wheaton Jr., Christopher L. Brady, Joshua W. Wheaton and Olivia G. Brady. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
