He is survived by: his daughter Katie Stone (Robert); the mother of his child Martha Taylor of Chapel Hill; his sister Diane Woodrum-Leuthold (Peter); his nieces and nephews, Chris Woodrum, Tim Woodrum (Gina), John Leuthold, Sarah Pilgrim (Blake) and Jennifer Moore (Matt); and his pet Lily.
During his 22-year career with the Federal Government, of which 10 years were in dedicated service to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, he received commendation for significant contributions to the relief efforts in Florida and Louisiana following Hurricane Andrew, as well as the successful completion of the Core Creek, Morehead City, Falls Lake, and B Everette Jordan projects.
