He is survived by: his sons, Major Elmer Franklin Hughes (Julie) of Sanford, NC, Dr. Patrick Sheldon Hughes of Raleigh, NC and Jeffrey Fitzgerald Hughes (Nicole) of Lantana, FL; his granddaughter Lolana Joleen Hughes; and also Debra. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
