He is survived by: his wife Gloria Jean Purefoy; his siblings, Lucille Barbee, Opheila Alston and Malcolm Alston (Bridget); his children, Kenneth Alston (Karen), Kimberly Alston, Tyrone Magby (Tanesha), Wayne Purefoy, Tiffany Alston and David Alston III (Gloria Purefoy Alston); his aunts, Ernestine Baker, Mary B Hatley, Catherine Burnette, Dorothy Baker and Joan Baker; his siblings-in-law, Elizabeth Williams, Shirley Bradsher (Bobby), Carol P Brooks, Jeanette P Boone, Virginia Purefoy Jones, Henry (Indra) and James W. Purefoy (Denise); his close friend Donna Magby; and his friends, Harold Balentine, Bill Carter, Man Cozart, Robert Davis, Roosevelt Dixon, Dennis Farrington, Wade Fearrington, Allen Lee, Bobby Riggsbee, Alfreddy Smith and Earl "Sonny" Watlington. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
