He is survived by: his wife Karen Wells Smith; his children, Lacey Ballew (Chad) of Kernersville, William Scott Smith of Waynesville and Chase Smith of Candler; his sisters, Darla Mathis of Canton, Marietta Edwards of Canton and Sharon Mullis of Clyde; and his grandchildren, Dillon, Kassi O'Neil, Danielle and Henry Smith.
