He is survived by: his children, Karen Elaine Downing (John) of Wilson, Veronica Lynn Hales (Eddie) of Wilmington and Mitch West of Canton; his grandchildren, Brayden West, Griffin Hales and Finley Hales; and his great grandchild Alexa Grace Carpenter.
