He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Ellis and Naomi Childers Ayers; and his wife Shirley Ann Donaldson Ayers. He is survived by: his sons, David Ayers (Mavis) of Charlotte, Roger Ayers (Cindy) of Avery's Creek and Mark Ayers of Canton; and his sisters, Gladys Ayers of West Asheville and Doris Ayers of Liberty. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.
