He was predeceased by: his mother Virginia Standingdeer; his former wife Mary Elizabeth Standingdeer; his daughters, Susie Standingdeer and Missy Standingdeer Bradley; his grandson Brandon Nune Standingdeer; and his wife Carol Sequoyah Standingdeer.
He is survived by: his children, Sheila Standingdeer (Gary), Vickie Standingdeer, John Standingdeer Jr. "Bullet" and Shan Standingdeer (Pat); his close friend Barney Youngdeer; his pet Rider; and his siblings, Mary Jackson, Joann Standingdeer and Carl Tode Standingdeer. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 23rd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the BIG Cove Baptist Church (6183 Big Cove Rd, Cherokee, NC 28719). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 23rd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
