He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Messer and Flonnie Messer; and his siblings, Arthur, Kelly of Bonnie, J. D., Gladys, Ellen, Mary Sue, Lessie, Carolyn, Billy, Linda and Johnny Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Rachel Messer; his children, Terry Barker (Sherrie) of Darrington, WA and Janice Jones of Bryson City; his grandchildren, Brian, Damian, Destiny, Stephanie and Nolan; his great grandchildren, Dean, Kalli and Hannah; and his siblings, Myrtle, Fannie, Ann and Robert Lowe. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
