She was predeceased by: her parents, James Doyle and Mellie Mae Bates Hampton; her husband Bergin Sutton; her son Darryl Sutton; and her brothers, Harley Hampton and Paul Hampton.

She is survived by: her brother William J. Hampton of Augusta, GA; her granddaughter Jena Sutton of Bryson City; and her nephews, Roger Wiggins of Bryson City, Eugene Hampton of Hendersonville, NC and Ronald Hampton of Indiana.
