He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Erwin and Bessie Singleton Erwin; his wife Barbara Jean Erwin; his siblings, Frances Messer, Lillian Messer, Wanda Reese, Susie Bell and Everette Erwin; and his son Roger Dale Erwin.

He is survived by: his children, Tammy E. Simmons, Selena Erwin, Ronnie Erwin and Marty Erwin (Jennifer); and his brother Billy Erwin. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
