She was predeceased by: her parents, William Hammer and Edna Hammer; her former husband Harley E. Hyre Jr.; her husband James A. Smith; her siblings, Anna Houk, Charles Hammer, Otto Hammer, Helen Seehan, Richard Hammer and Gertrude Peterson; and her son-in-law Dennis Cummins.
She is survived by: her daughter Martha Cummins of Black Mountain; and her grandchildren, Michael, Sara and Brendon Cummins.
