He was predeceased by: his parents, George M. Curtis and Neppie Gibson Curtis; and his siblings, Bonnie Leatherwood, Herbert Curtis, Gussie Barker, Mary Moss (Lois), Fannie Bingham and Emma Bradley.

He is survived by: his brother Elmer Curtis of Vienna, VA; his sons, Melvin Curtis (Rhoda) of Black Mountain, Michael Curtis of Swannanoa, Danny Curtis of Swannanoa and David Curtis of Nebo; and his stepdaughter Judith Hampton of Clearwater, FL. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
