He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Thomas Wiley and Mable Birckhead; and his great-grandparent N. B. Hardister. He is survived by: his parents, Thomas Wiley, Jr. and Kim Hurley Birckhead; his sister Megan Birckhead Housley (Brandon) of Troy; his nieces and nephews, Jordan, Bryson and Mattie; his grandparents, Mitchell and Marie Hurley of Troy; and his great-grandparent Ruby Davis of Asheboro.
