He was predeceased by: his father Jesse Gordon Willis; his nieces, Willa Gillikin Rothrock and Kimberly Pearl Willis; his nephew Craig B. Gillikin; and his brother-in-law William Walker Gillikin.
He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Markham Willis; his son Richard G. Willis of Newland, NC; his grandson Scott G. Willis of Kemah, TX; his siblings, Janet W. Gillikin of Harkers, Hollie W. Gaskill (Thad) of Beaufort and Roland A. Willis (Suzanne) of Beaufort; his aunts, Rebecca Willis of Harkers Island and Leona Hall of Harkers Island; his uncle Sonny Davis of Morehead City; his nieces, Jessica W. Cooper of Beaufort and Caroline Willis of Hampton, VA; and his nephew Jonathan W. Gillikin of Harkers Island. He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
