It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Jean Gauss of Beaufort, North Carolina, who passed away on October 26, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parent Philip Byrum; her husband Gustav Edward Gauss, Jr.; her brother Nicholas Doubd Gwatney; and her sons-in-law, Henry Caudle and Steve Pearson.
She is survived by: her children, Bert Rose (Ramona) of New Bern, Beth Rose of High Point, Amy Rose Cecil (Curtis) of Thomasville and Mary Margaret Rose Radford (Daryl) of Morehead City; her grandchildren, Mary Glenn Rose Dinger (Brandon), Ali Pearson LeBlanc (Tom), Caroline Rose Brody (Adam), Robert Vance Morris, Thomas Radford and Joseph Radford; her great grandchildren, Cannon, Grayson, Raleigh Dinger, Pierce, Anna Sloan LeBlanc, Conley, Oakley and Baker Brody; her brother Tommy Gwatney (Linda); her nieces, Nikki Gwatney Hooks (Eric) and Harper Gwatney Buskirk (Ben); and her nephew Nicholas Doubd Gwatney II.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the St. Timothy's Episcopal Church (202 Goldsboro St E, Wilson, NC 27893). Visitation was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM at the same location.
