He was predeceased by: his mother Iona Fonville; his son Donnie Luis Fonville; and his siblings, William Hester Fonville, Lloyd Fonville, Linwood Fonville, Clauderene Fonville, Anna Bell Carr and Lucille Leath.

He is survived by: his wife Lennie Williams Fonville of Asheboro; and his children, Lendia Fonville, Ritchie Fonville (Annie), Angela Marley, Jamie Fonville (Jennifer), Scottie Fonville (Katrina) and Annette Hinton (Eugene). He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
