She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Smith and Ruby Dickens Smith; and her siblings, Carol Smith, Shirley Collins, Audrey Ferrell and Keith Smith.
She is survived by: her husband Ken Cox; her children, Brandon Hames (Heather) of Franklinville and Ashley Elizabeth Wilcox (Justin) of Texas; her stepsons, Brian Cox of Sanford and Kevin Cox of Canada; her grandson Calvin Hames; and her siblings, Earl Smith (Margaret) of Cedar Falls, Aubrey Smith (Kathy) of Asheboro, Richard Smith (Rita) of Franklinville, Martha Long (Jesse) of Denton, Catherine Paulette Walters (Doug) of Kenly and Bobbie Jeanette Burrows of Asheboro.
