He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Raymond T. Smith and Jocelyn Harvell Moffatt (Smith); his wife Brenda Pennell Smith; his daughters, Kristie Smith-Harris (Dean) and Karen Schalesky (Travis) of Asheboro; his grandchildren, Daryn Trogdon Jr., Luke Trogdon, Seth Trogdon, Olivia Schalesky, Jenna Schalesky, Karey Harris and Jake Harris; his brothers, Michael Smith of Charlotte and J. Mark Smith of Charlotte; and his nieces and nephews, Karla Woolard of Asheboro, Alexandra Smith of Charlotte, Dwight Pennell Jr. of Greensboro, Jeff Pennell of Emerald Isle and Joseph Smith of Charlotte.
