She was predeceased by: her parents, Roscoe Preston and Annie Irene Newton Brice; her husband John Hewlett Flake, Sr.; and her siblings, Margaret Harling, Marie Singleton, Ethel Williams, Lucille Hayley, Charles Brice and James Brice.
She is survived by: her children, Patricia F. Edgecomb (Fred) of Kure Beach, Meredith F. Ridge (Phillip) of Randleman and John H. Flake (Claudia) of Raleigh; her sister Sarah Crowder of Benson; her grandchildren, Catherine R. Birch (Jed), Jay (Kristin), Chris (Regina), Jordan Flake and Neil Ridge; and her great grandchildren, Julia, Thomas, Jenna, Lillian, Evelyn and Charles Flake.
