He was predeceased by: his parents, Neill Sheffield, Sr. and Agnes Welch; his wife Marie; his brother Neill, Jr.; and his sister-in-law Genevieve.

He is survived by: his son Scott (Holly) of Thomasville; and his siblings, Doris Pitts of Supply, Sandra Joines (Buddy) of Asheboro and Samuel (O'Dene) of Robbins. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
