He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lloyd Gurley and Clementine Bolton Gurley; his spouse Jerry Ann Grubb; his sons, Dirk Gurley (Patricia) of Archdale and Kurt Gurley (Denise) of Burlington; his grandchildren, Erica Wilfong (Chad), Krystle Nichols (Zach), Ashton Evans (Marshall), Kurtlyn Gurley and Kamden Gurley; his great grandchildren, Kade, Lilly, Henry, Beckett and Adalyn; and his siblings, Joyce Pickett of Julian, Carolyn Patterson (Melvin) of Trinity and Bobby Gurley (Pat) of Conway.
