He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Hathcock and Mary Lou Ingold Hathcock; his daughters, Twyla H. Kidd (Jeff) of Albemarle and Kim H. McIlwaine (Larry) of Albemarle; his siblings, Junior Hathcock of Albemarle, Betty Mauldin of Albemarle and Bernice Doby of Albemarle; and his grandchildren, Nathan Kidd, Madison, Zach Huneycutt, Mikayla Kidd and Brooke McIlwaine.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Lake Norman, 705 Griffith Street, Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036 in honor of Eileen Fitzpatrick and Jonathan Adams.
