He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Spears and Thelma Shepherd Spears. He is survived by: his former wife Rose Emily Fitzpatrick; his wife Rose Fitzpatrick Spears of West Point; his sons, Bobby Wayne Spears of West Point and David Earl Spears of West Point; his siblings, Marie Spears of West Point and James Spears of Columbus; and his sister-in-law Peggy Allred (Jimmy) of Wren.
